Two Ukrainian Children Poisoned After Russian Drone Strike

Two children are in hospital after a devastating overnight Russian drone attack on the southern Ukrainian city of Odesa, according to officials.

The attack injured five people in total, including a seven-year-old boy and a nine-year-old girl, and caused widespread destruction to homes and civilian infrastructure. Authorities say the children suffered poisoning from toxic smoke, inhaled during the chaos as flames tore through their building.

“The children, who were poisoned by combustion products, were hospitalised,”
confirmed regional governor Oleh Kiper.

Homes in Ruins

Six flats were completely destroyed in the strike, while another 36 were partially damaged, leaving families to pick through the wreckage of their lives. The attack struck a multi-storey residential building, highlighting once again how civilian areas continue to bear the brunt of this long-running conflict.

While firefighters and medics scrambled to help survivors, the Ukrainian Air Force worked through the night to counter the onslaught.

A Relentless Barrage

According to Ukrainian defence sources, Russia launched 52 drones overnight in a mass aerial attack. Forty were either shot down or diverted using electronic warfare systems, but the damage caused by those that got through was once again all too real.

This latest attack is part of a pattern that has seen critical infrastructure and residential areas targeted across Ukraine, as drone warfare continues to define Russia’s military strategy.
