Russia Targets Kryvyi Rih with Deadly Morning Missile Attack

A Russian missile strike on the city of Kryvyi Rih, located in Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, has resulted in at least one death and left several others injured. The attack, which took place on the morning of March 12, targeted an infrastructure facility, sparking fires and causing extensive damage across the area.

Regional Governor Serhiy Lysak confirmed that a 47-year-old woman was killed when the missile struck near the trolleybus she was travelling on. At least nine other individuals were injured, some of whom are in serious condition. The strike caused fires at the facility and damaged nearby high-rise residential and administrative buildings, buses, garages, more than a dozen cars, shops, and an educational institution.

Oleksandr Vilkul, head of the city’s defence council, reported that the missile assault was a “double-tap” attack. Following the first strike, emergency services rushed to the scene, but the second missile targeted the rescue teams directly, damaging two pieces of rescue equipment.

The Ukrainian State Emergency Service (SES) has since been working to extinguish the fires and assess the damage caused by the attack. Multiple explosions were reported in the city shortly after the Ukrainian Air Force declared an air-raid alert in response to the missile launch.

This deadly strike on Kryvyi Rih serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing conflict, with Russian missile attacks continuing to devastate civilian infrastructure and disrupt life in Ukraine. The full extent of the damage and the final toll on casualties are still being evaluated as recovery efforts continue.
