Small Group tour of London’s Imperial War Museum

2 February @ 10:00 - 12:30
Walk through the histories of the First and Second World Wars with this official Blue Badge Guide tour of London’s Imperial War Museum.

Join me for a small group tour (limited to eight people) of the world’s leading museum of war and conflict, learning about some of the artefacts on display (including a Battle of Britain Spitfire, a V2 rocket, one of the Dunkirk ‘Little Ships’ and a WW1 field gun), and gaining insights and context about the global conflagrations of the 20th century.

We will discuss the experience of the individuals caught up in the fighting on the front line and back home, as well as looking at the broader strategy of the combatants. We will also visit the IWM’s new Blavatnik Art, Film and Photography Galleries that showcase the experiences and innovations of artists, filmmakers and photographers,.

The tour will include

  • The WW1 galleries – from the assassination of the Archduke Ferdinand to the bitter struggles on land, sea and air.
  • The WW2 galleries – history’s most destructive war: the theatres, the events, the personalities and the stories of the people affected.
  • The new Blavatnik Art, Film and Photography Galleries which showcase artworks, photographs and film of 20th and 21st century conflicts. This includes the powerful ‘Gassed’ by John Singer Sargent

Whether you have been to the IWM before or are new to the museum, this tour will show you some of the most powerful and incredible objects, and provide detailed information and engrossing stories from the terrible stories of the 20th century conflicts.
