Merry Christmas, Force Nation! This holiday season, we decided to get into the festive spirit by doing something a bit different: the 12 Days of Christmas, military edition! What started as a fun idea quickly turned into a full-on mission to create the most entertaining and unique holiday parody we could. And let us tell you, it was a journey filled with laughs, last-minute changes, and plenty of unexpected surprises.
The Concept: The 12 Days of Christmas, Military Edition
It all began with a simple thought: Why not put a military twist on the classic Christmas carol? The team, led by none other than Big Phil, spent way too long re-writing the lyrics to match the theme of military life. Every verse had to incorporate military references, whether it was gear, tactics, or some classic army humour, and make it flow with the original tune. It took a lot of effort, creativity, and a healthy dose of coffee to make sure we were hitting the right notes – pun intended!
The Struggle: Constantly Rewriting Lyrics
As we sat in the studio, we quickly realised that some of the lyrics weren’t quite as easy to sing as they were to write. We found ourselves tweaking and re-writing lines right up until filming began. There were a few last-minute changes on the day of the shoot, so much so that we were still changing lyrics during filming! Getting everything just right was more challenging than we anticipated, but we were determined to give you a version of The 12 Days of Christmas that would make you laugh while staying true to the military theme.
The Singing Struggle: Phil’s Lovely Voice, but Not Always in Time! 🎤
Now, we all know that Big Phil Campion has a lovely singing voice, but timing? Well, that’s a different story! Trying to get Phil to sing in sync with the backing track was no easy task. It became clear that while he’s got the vocal chops, keeping up with the rhythm was a bit trickier. We must have done over 20 takes before finally settling on the final version. Between laughing, re-recording, and Phil’s classic banter, we had a blast, but it definitely took some serious persistence to get the timing just right.
The Outtakes: Hilarious Bloopers for Your Enjoyment
Let’s just say the outtakes from the shoot were priceless. From Phil cracking jokes in the middle of lines to the team bursting into laughter over a missed note, there was no shortage of funny moments. We had so much fun behind the scenes, and we knew we couldn’t keep all the bloopers to ourselves. So, we decided to share the outtakes with you, and they’ve now been posted as a separate video on FORCE TV’s YouTube channel. Trust us, if you need a good laugh, these bloopers are guaranteed to deliver!
