Police Officer Seriously Injured in Bexleyheath Foot Chase Collision

A police officer has been seriously injured after being struck by a car while pursuing a suspect on foot in Bexleyheath.

Incident in Mayplace Road West

Metropolitan Police were called at 12pm on February 13 to reports of concern for a woman’s safety in Mayplace Road West. Officers arrived and began a foot pursuit of a man linked to the incident.

During the chase, one officer was hit by a car, which was unrelated to the case, leaving him with serious injuries. He was rushed to hospital for urgent treatment.

Suspect Arrested, Road Closed

The suspect was arrested at the scene on suspicion of domestic common assault, and the road remains closed in both directions as investigations continue.

A Met Police spokesperson confirmed the details, stating:

“A police officer has been taken to hospital following a collision in Bexleyheath this afternoon. During the foot pursuit, an officer was involved in a collision with a car unrelated to the incident they were dealing with. He has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.”

Emergency Response

The London Ambulance Service responded swiftly, dispatching an ambulance crew, an incident response officer, and a paramedic from their tactical response unit.

“We treated a patient at the scene and took them to a major trauma centre as a priority,” a spokesperson said.

The situation remains under investigation, with police urging the public to avoid the area while emergency teams work at the scene.
