Gunshots at Milton Keynes Station: Police Fatally Shoot Armed Man

The usually bustling Milton Keynes Central Station became the scene of a dramatic and fatal police incident today, leaving bystanders in shock. Officers shot dead a man outside the station after reports that he was armed with a weapon.

Eyewitnesses described the chaos that unfolded just before 1pm. Commuters heard a “very loud” gunshot, followed by the urgent movements of armed officers administering first aid to a man on the pavement. Within moments, the area was swarming with police.

What Happened?

According to Thames Valley Police (TVP), officers were called to the station at 12:55 after receiving reports of a suspect carrying a firearm. Upon arrival, they confronted a white man who was in possession of a knife. Despite repeated warnings, the suspect allegedly moved quickly towards the officers, forcing them to fire.

Attempts to save his life were immediate. Officers performed CPR for at least ten minutes, but the man was pronounced dead at 13:44.

“There is not believed to be any further risk to the public at this time,” a police spokesperson assured.

Eyewitness Accounts: ‘It Was Very Distressing’

For those caught in the moment, the experience was nothing short of terrifying.

Hever Marin was inside the station on a phone call when the fatal shot rang out.

“It was very loud,” he said. “We rushed outside and saw two armed cops frantically trying to resuscitate him. They tried for at least ten minutes, but the guy wasn’t reacting.”

Others inside the station had a similar reaction. Co-op store worker Barentina Corredor initially feared for her own safety when she heard the gunfire.

“I thought we had to find somewhere to hide, I was scared,” she admitted. “They were trying so hard on CPR. It was quite shocking.”

Above the station, residents of nearby flats also heard the commotion. Edith Brockbank, 67, described the intense police presence that followed.

“There was all sorts of activity, officers trying to get people back. Some were trying to film it, but the police were telling them to move away,” she said.

Investigations Underway

With the incident unfolding in a public space, the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) was quickly alerted and has launched a full inquiry.

A spokesperson for the police watchdog confirmed, “We are independently investigating all of the circumstances, including the actions and decisions taken by the police.” However, they stressed that the investigation is still in its very early stages.

Meanwhile, British Transport Police officers have remained at the station to reassure passengers. Though train services were unaffected, station exits were restricted, and pick-up and drop-off zones were temporarily closed. Passengers were, at times, staggered entering and leaving the station to manage crowd control.

Local councillors have also reacted to the tragic incident. Shazna Muzammil, Conservative group leader at Milton Keynes City Council, expressed her concern.

“I’m deeply shocked by what has happened,” she posted on X. “Our thoughts are with all those affected. We’re very thankful to the police and emergency services for their swift response in keeping everyone safe.”

What’s Next?

As investigations continue, TVP remains in charge of the case, with the IOPC closely monitoring proceedings. The coming days will determine whether the officers’ actions were justified in the face of the perceived threat.

For now, Milton Keynes Central Station is returning to business as usual, but for those who witnessed today’s events, the memory will likely linger for some time.
